Strachujov: Hotels and Accommodation

The Svratka floodplain is one of the significant landscape features in the Strachujov area. In the Strachujov landscape, the Svratka Valley forms the boundary between the Hornosvratecká vrchovina and the Nedvědická vrchovina; the named geomorphological subunits include the Žďárské vrchy, Pohledeckoskalská vrchovina, and Sulkovecká vrchovina.

A boundary charter from 1269 mentions the stream “Strahwiov” and indicates that a settlement called Strachujov already existed at that time. In 1360, Strachujov is mentioned as a village; its owner, Jimram of Pernštejn, paid two groschen annually to Doubravník Monastery. In 1390, Vilém of Pernštejn assigned his wife Anežka a dower on the village of Strachujov.

Several designated trails lead through or to Strachujov. A second route of the Partyzánská stezka leads from Strachujov via Veselí to Prosetín. Another route of this trail runs from Telecí via Sněžné to Strachujov. The Partyzánská stezka combines a printed map with audio stories associated with selected memorial sites of the anti-fascist resistance during the Second World War.

Cycling Route 4025, recorded by the Klub českých turistů (KČT), runs through the cadastral area of Strachujov and leads via Polička, Jimramov, Dalečín, and Nedvědice. In Strachujov, it follows a relatively narrow and heavily trafficked class II road without a separate cycle path, designated cycle lane, or paved shoulder.

The 70 km-long Great Circuit through the Zubří Land leads via Písečné and Dalečín along the Svratka Valley, passing Strachujov on its way to Jimramov. A new cycling route has been proposed along a farm track on the northwestern edge of Strachujov’s cadastral area; a red-marked KČT hiking trail also runs along this track.

From Strachujov, hikers can reach little-known places such as the “Dědek and Babka” rocks.
