Vatín: Hotels and accommodations

In the area of Vatín, the I/37 road forms the southern boundary of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. The area around Vatín contains numerous ponds with wetland margins, as well as wet meadows where peatland species are often found.

The oldest known written mention of Vatín dates back to 1353. In the 1880s, Vatín was affected by four devastating fires. The Štursa family originally came from Vatín; among its members was the academic sculptor Jan Štursa (1880–1925).

In the southern part of Vatín, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows stands beside a pond. It was built between 1888 and 1891 and consecrated in 1890. The Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows and the adjacent village square with its pond were reconstructed in 1989. The Návesník fire-water reservoir is located directly next to the chapel.

The one-day walking pilgrimage from Sirákov to Slavkovice passed through Vatín on 25 July 2025. The 56 km gravel-bike route “Gravel kolem hvězdy Vysočiny” also runs through Vatín along farm tracks to the Vetelské rybníky ponds.
