Čachotín: Hotels and Accommodation
St. Lawrence Church stands in the center of the village square, and Čachotín has preserved the original village buildings around the square. The church is Čachotín’s most important landmark. St. Lawrence Church and the bell tower were declared cultural monuments by the state in 1964.
Culture and Townscape
St. Lawrence Church has a Baroque appearance with vernacular elements and rests on Gothic foundations. It contains a burial site of the Barons Bechyně von Lažany dating from 1833. A detached multi-storey bell tower stands east of the church. It was built around the middle of the 19th century in the Pseudo-Romanesque style and has a pyramidal roof with a dormer for the clock.
Landscape and Nature
At 595 meters above sea level, Remonštangle Hill is the highest point in Čachotín. Vysoká Hill is located in the vicinity of Čachotín. Nearby are the hill “(Čachotín [Chotěboř])”, the hill “Lysá [Horní Krupá u Havlíčkova Brodu]” and the hill “Lysá N [Horní Krupá u Havlíčkova Brodu]”. The ruins of Orlík are located in the wider regional surroundings of Čachotín.
The “Buk v Boučí” memorial tree is designated as a protected memorial tree. It was first designated as a memorial tree on January 1, 1989, is estimated to be 350 years old and has a trunk circumference of 7.1 meters. A green-marked hiking trail runs between Zálesí and Lysá via the memorial site with this protected tree.
Traditions and Events
The traditional Vavřinecká pouť pilgrimage in Čachotín takes place on the second Sunday in August. It includes entertainment on an outdoor dance floor.
