Libice Nad Doubravou: Hotels and Accommodation

The 13.3679-hectare Svatomariánské údolí Nature Reserve is located near Libice nad Doubravou. It encompasses a naturally preserved stretch of the Doubrava River as well as well-preserved ash-alder floodplain forests in the adjacent floodplain.

Mount Spálava is located in the eponymous district of Libice nad Doubravou and is the second-highest peak of the Železné hory. Nearby, in the Spálava district, are high rock formations known as Mrazové sruby.

The Svatomariánské údolí can be explored from Libice nad Doubravou via local roads and paths. The route passes former mills and a former glass-cutting workshop; however, no marked hiking trail runs through the valley.

The historic Libická stezka trade route passed through Libice nad Doubravou and connected Bohemia with Moravia. In the area of the Doubrava Valley, it ran below the main ridge of the Železné hory.

The Church of St. Giles is considered the oldest monument in Libice nad Doubravou; a wooden predecessor building probably already stood here in the 10th century. The church has a Gothic nave and a tower built at the beginning of the 17th century in the High Baroque style. It also contains a baptismal font from the 14th century.

Libice nad Doubravou Château is a Baroque château originally dating from the 18th century. In the 19th century, it was extended and rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style.

The glassworks of Antonín Pešout also forms part of the town's history. Its machinery was powered by a 16-horsepower water turbine. Production ended in 1915; only the residential building has survived, while the workshops are ruins.

Pilnův statek dates from the late 18th century, was reconstructed in 1869, and is owned by the municipality, which is attempting to preserve it as a typical farmhouse.

In addition to the regular menu, Hostinec U Bambuchů offers old Bohemian specialties as well as European cuisine.
