The Údolí Brtnice protected area preserves the Brtnice Valley as an independent geomorphological phenomenon with high biodiversity and also encompasses the cadastral area of Dolní Smrčné.

A marked hiking trail leads through this valley from Brtnice for approximately 8 km to Rokštejn Castle.
Getting Around
Dolní Smrčné railway station is located on railway line 240 between Brno and Jihlava and is integrated into the integrated transport system. For the return journey on this excursion, you can take the train or use a bicycle; combining the trip with the train is considered practical for families with children.
Culture
The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary in Dolní Smrčné was built and consecrated in 1893 and is a prominent landmark of the village. Eight farmsteads are grouped around it in a distinctive fan-shaped arrangement.
The Václav Anděl glassworks, founded in Dolní Smrčné in 1906, is part of the village's history. It processed lead crystal, which was predominantly exported to England, and ceased production in the 1990s.
