Černov: Cultural Monuments and Mining History

Cvilínek is an exceptionally well-preserved 13th-century mining and ore-processing settlement in the valley of the upper course of the Kamenička, 550 m northeast of the center of Černov. At Cvilínek, well-preserved wooden channels and channel systems carried water into wooden basins where ore was washed.

Černov combines monuments, historic buildings and traditional customs with named destinations in the surrounding area. Černov is home to the Boží muka, the school building and House No. 7; Cvilínek adds mining and ore-processing technology to this local history. Janštejn, Roštejn [Doupě] and Svatá Anna are also located in the surrounding area.

The spatial structure therefore extends from the town center through the immediate surroundings to the wider regional area. Landscape points include a viewpoint and four mountains in the vicinity of Černov; Orlík is located as a ruin in the wider regional area.

Culture

The Boží muka in Černov is designated as an immovable cultural monument. The second floor of the school building was added in 1884. The school operated for more than a century and was closed in 1977. House No. 7 in Černov is also designated as an architecturally valuable farmhouse. In the case of the school building, this combines a structural alteration, a long period of use and a conclusively stated year of closure.

The tradition of the Obchůzka lucek has been authentically preserved in Černov. The Obchůzka lucek in Černov and Chrástov was added to the List of Intangible Assets of Traditional Folk Culture of the Vysočina Region at the end of 2024 under number 12/2024 because of its uniqueness and authenticity.
