Jankov U Pelhřimova: Hotels and Accommodation

The Prameniště Jankovského potoka Nature Reserve extends across the cadastral areas of Jankov, Vyskytná and Opatov. It protects a spring area, a floodplain and a natural stream with wet and peat meadows as well as fragments of peatland. The protected natural area is also home to a population of otters.

Nature

The U Miličovska Nature Reserve is located within the municipality of Jankov, in the cadastral area of Jankov u Pelhřimova. The U Milíčovska Nature Reserve protects a well-preserved complex of species-rich peatland and meadow communities.

The Jankovský potok National Nature Monument also includes Jankov u Pelhřimova and covers more than 70 hectares. Its reasons for protection include the regionally unique occurrence of the critically endangered freshwater pearl mussel.

The landscape includes several mountains in different spatial relationships to Jankov: Březina lies in the nearby area, while Přední skála, Putimovský vrch and Špičák are in the surrounding area of Jankov.

Culture and History

The quarry in Jankov was opened around the turn of 1941 and 1942 by stonemason Jaroslav Křížek. The small open-pit quarry was excavated by a single person; paving stones, curbs and building stone were produced there from solid, high-quality granite without using explosives.

Annual pilgrimages dedicated to Saint Anne were held in Jankov on the Sunday closest to 26 July, the feast day of Saint Anne.
