Kosetice: Hotels and Accommodations

Košetice combines medieval sacred history with protected historic sites and signposted trails through forest and agricultural landscapes. The history of the village is particularly vivid at the Church of St. John the Baptist: its origins date back to the Middle Ages; it is a single-nave church with a rectangular presbytery, a prismatic tower, and two Baroque statues of saints.

Culture and History

The former synagogue of Košetice is also part of the historic villagescape. The building at house number 76 was constructed around the first half of the 19th century and is now used as a residential building. The Jewish cemetery lies southeast of Košetice in a wooded area. It is freely accessible; the oldest gravestones date from the early 18th century.

Another historic site is Starý zámek. Its grounds include a park that adjoins the chateau and the farmyard on the south, west, and north sides. The park consists of three interconnected areas with different characters. Starý zámek is classified as a protected cultural monument. The Chapel of the Sorrows of Christ in Košetice is also classified as a protected cultural monument.

Nový zámek was created in the 1720s by converting an abandoned rectory. It is privately owned and is currently not open to the public.

Trails and Events

The bonus stage of the Santiniho stezka leads from Červená Řečice 11 km to the chateau in Košetice. At “Kolem dokola Košeticka,” the recommended hiking and cycling routes are signposted; some of them run along forest and field roads as well as forest trails. “Kolem dokola Košeticka” is a recurring cycling and hiking event in Košetice, with its 8th edition held on August 26, 2023.
