Křelovice: Hotels and Accommodation

Křelovice has a completely elliptical village layout, a so-called Okrouhlice, which is considered the oldest type of a Slavic village. The village lies less than one kilometre from the left bank of the Trnávka and is predominantly surrounded by coniferous forests. 131 hectares of these forests are directly owned by the municipality of Křelovice.

Nature and Trails

Křelovice is considered a suitable starting point for walks into the forests, where blueberries and mushrooms can be collected. Reservoirs considered popular swimming destinations are located about two kilometres from Křelovice.

Cycle Route 161 passes through Křelovice between Želiv and Senožaty and continues via Onšov and Košetice. The blue-marked historical trail between Červená Řečice and Pelhřimov also passes through Křelovice and continues to Košetice.

Architectural and Memorial Heritage

The Stará pošta building complex in Křelovice, house number 26, was extended in 1856 with a long wing containing vaulted stables. The Sýpka in Křelovice, house number 1, is a plastered, two-storey granary with a rectangular floor plan and a gabled roof and forms part of the buildings of a farmstead.

At the central pond in Křelovice, a damaged granite stone is said to commemorate a pub quarrel that ended in a death. On the north-eastern edge of the village, on the road to Senožaty, a stone memorial bears a protruding relief of a paw cross.

The Dva smírčí kříže site in Křelovice comprises two sandstone reconciliation crosses that are probably of medieval origin. Only one of the crosses remains at the site; it bears an engraving depicting a crossbow or a sword. A statue of the Virgin Mary from 1901 stands in front of the chapel in Křelovice.

History and Traditions

For the year 1379, Křelovice is recorded as having 40 residents and an area of 24 lan. This gave the municipality the second-largest area among the villages of the Červená Řečice estate.

The Křelovický masopust was announced as a traditional carnival featuring a mask gathering from 9 a.m., a procession from 10 a.m. on Saturday, 14 February 2026, followed by an evening programme at the cultural centre.
