Culture and History

The Church of St. Bartholomew stands in the western part of Pošná on a hill above Návesní Pond. The largely preserved single-nave late Romanesque building dates from the second half of the 13th century and underwent significant alterations during the Renaissance and Baroque periods; in 1680, it was remodeled in the Baroque style. The interior contains valuable Gothic wall paintings from the 14th century. The cemetery grounds are partially enclosed by a boundary wall.

In the Proseč district of Pošná stands a Baroque château from the 18th century. It was originally built as a Renaissance fortress with two lateral rondels. The château is surrounded by a landscaped park enclosed by a picket fence with pillars.

A small rustic chapel from the 19th century stands on the village green in Pošná. It has a square floor plan with slightly beveled corners, a hipped roof, and a four-sided lantern on the roof ridge. In front of its entrance, at a highly visible location, stands a stone commemorative crucifix from 1884.

At the eastern edge of Pošná, on the road to Zahrádka, stands a stone wayside shrine in a late Gothic style. The year carved into it is 1609.

Landscape

The monumental railway viaduct of Pošná was built around 1888 on the Horní Cerekev–Tábor railway line. It crosses the deep valley of the Novodvorský Stream in a gentle arc. The viaduct has eleven arches resting on four-sided conical pillars and is built of rubble stone.
