History
The first written mention of Útěchovice pod Stražištěm dates back to the land register of Strahov Monastery from 1410. The local Hájovna is one of the municipality’s sights and was the birthplace of theatre director Jiří Frejka. Together with Jindřich Honzl, he founded the Osvobozené divadlo in 1920.
Culture
Myslivna No. 41 stands on the northern edge of the municipality and is registered as an immovable cultural monument. It is the birthplace of Czech director and theatre scholar Jiří Frejka; a memorial plaque on its façade commemorates this fact. The Myslivna complex includes adjoining farm buildings and is associated with theatre director and theorist Jiří Frejka. The forestry building was remodelled in 1895 and has eclectic façades with vertically boarded gables.
Near the southeastern edge of the municipality lie the remains of the old Smolína Castle, also known as Pechburg. Southeast of the municipality, Smrčinský Mill No. 20 stands on a stream and is considered a locally significant building of architectural value.
In the lower part of the village stands the Baroque Chapel of St John the Baptist. It was built in the 18th century on the southwestern slope of Stražiště hill by a spring. The chapel is maintained, and its bell rings twice a day. The site of the chapel was formerly a destination for religious pilgrimages.
Events
A traditional carnival procession is held in the municipality. A pilgrimage is also held.
