Bačkovice: Hotels and Accommodation

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius is the defining landmark of the village of Bačkovice. The wayside shrine known as “Boží muka” is also an immovable cultural monument in the Bačkovice area. It stands in the fields about 1 km south of Bačkovice, at the Police–Dešná crossroads.

Bačkovice Fortress was destroyed in 1468 during the Bohemian–Hungarian War. Its probable location is on the left bank of the Želetavka, directly by the bridge at the northern end of the village; this location has not yet been confirmed archaeologically.

The regional biocentre RBC 544 Šimkův mlýn extends into the Bačkovice area. In the Bačkovice area, forests, watercourses, ponds and floodplain valleys are significant landscape features. On one side of the valley, the forest reaches right up to the village houses of Bačkovice.

The route through the Želetavka Valley runs via Jemnice, Radotice, Bačkovice, Šimkův mlýn, Lubnice, Police and Jiratice, returning to Jemnice. The route also follows marked cycle route 26 from Jemnice through the Želetavka Valley to Bačkovice.
