Nature and landscape

Štěměchy is surrounded by deep forests consisting mostly of conifers. These forests are especially popular with people who appreciate peace, nature and walks.

On the summit of Mařenka there is an approximately 2-hectare area of original beech forest that is about 190 years old.

Culture and history

The remains of Štěměchy Fortress lie on the eastern edge of the village. They feature two partially preserved moats. The circular castle site of Štěměchy Fortress has a diameter of approximately 45 metres.

The Štěměchy bell tower, also known as the bell chapel, is listed as one of the village’s cultural monuments. Dašovský Mill has four floors and preserves thousands of original exhibits.

Things to do

The Štěměchy Fortress site now serves as a summer excursion destination and as a venue for major community celebrations.

Via Mariana offers informative and playful stations for children and adults. The Via Mariana educational trail has thirteen stations dedicated to old crafts, legends, hunting, the local volunteer fire brigade and a famous native of the village, and is three kilometres long. There is a toolbox for cyclists on the back of the Via Mariana entrance board.

First-class road I/23 runs through Štěměchy.
