Trebenice: Hotels and Accommodation

Třebenice lies on the right bank of the Dalešická Reservoir, where hiking and cycling through the landscape are recommended as the main leisure activities. Maintained paths and cycle paths run along the entire right bank; there are also elevated viewpoints overlooking the reservoir’s water surface.

Landscape and Cycle Paths

The Dalešická Reservoir is designated as the JIHLAVA 7-8 fishing area. An important cycling connection is the 51 km-long “Around the Dalešice Reservoir” route, which runs through Třebenice, Plešice and Chroustov. From Třebenice, it continues via Plešice and Chroustov along road III/35122 to Stropešín. On this route, Třebenice can be reached from the Žleb signpost via an unmarked path.

Nature

A small forest clearing near the village is home to three endangered plant species: snowdrop (sněženka předjarní), as well as the critically endangered species Carpathian saffron (šafrán karpatský) and two-leaved squill (ladoňka dvoulistá). The cadastral area of Třebenice also contains botanically interesting sites with rare plant species, including cyclamen (brambořík nachový), Turk’s cap lily (lilie zlatohlávek), bulbous saxifrage (lomikámen cibulkatý) and other species.

Culture and History

The Chapel of Sts Cyril and Methodius is a small Baroque-Classical chapel dating from the 18th century. Its interior features murals with a Cyrillo-Methodian theme and a sculpture group of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The chapel also includes a room sunk into the ground with a well.

Every year on 5 July, Třebenice hosts the Cyril and Methodius pilgrimage together with “zaváděním po vsi”. The event is preceded by Holy Mass in the village square by the chapel. In January, the local Myslivecké sdružení holds the traditional Myslivecký ples. On the Saturday closest to Children’s Day (1 June), the Svaz žen organises Dětský den with spit-roasted suckling pig and competitions for children.

Historically, Třebenice belonged to Holoubek Castle. After Holoubek Castle fell into disrepair after 1440, Třebenice became part of the Valeč estate.
