Bařice-Velké Těšany: Windmill, Chapels and Nature
Bařice-Velké Těšany combines a publicly accessible historic windmill with chapels, memorial sites and natural attractions in the surrounding area. In Velké Těšany, the windmill was declared a national cultural monument in 2014; it has been publicly accessible since 1979.
Culture
The windmill stands on the southwestern slope above the village, near the Chvaletiny forest and approximately 200 m from the road to the neighbouring municipality of Vrbky. Also in Velké Těšany is the Chapel of Saint Florian, completed in 1926 and dedicated to Saint Florian. Today, it hosts regular religious ceremonies and is the centre of the local church fair celebrations every year around Saint Florian’s Day.
In front of this chapel, a war memorial was erected in 1946 for the inhabitants who fell in the First and Second World Wars. Victims of the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 and of cholera in Velké Těšany are buried beneath the stone cross from 1851 on the road to Těšnovice.
Bařice also has several religious and historic memorial sites. The chapel in Bařice is a listed building from 1909, erected on the site of an older wooden bell tower and consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on 24 October 1909. A Mass with an accompanying programme is held there every year on the second Saturday in June. The statue of the Virgin Mary at Potoky was consecrated on 13 June 1920 and restored in 2010. The cemetery cross from 1922 is dedicated to the inhabitants who fell in the First World War. The repaired cross from 1904 was solemnly consecrated on 3 October 1999 in a park at the lower end of the village.
Nature
The memorial lime tree of Velké Těšany is registered as a protected tree and stands on the road to Těšnovice. It is a popular destination for walks and a place to rest. The protected natural monument of Obora is also located nearby, approximately 1 km north of Velké Těšany, on the gently wooded slope of the hill of the same name, also called Hvězda.
West of Velké Těšany, on the edge of the Chřiby Hills, lies Skalka u Trňáku. It is a sun-exposed grassy slope. This natural attraction in the surrounding area can be reached from Velké Těšany via a field path towards the crossroads near Zlámanka and onwards towards Drahlov.

A cycle path leads around Velké Těšany and connects Kroměříž with Bunč via Vrbka and Kostelany.
