Horní Lapač – Culture, Cycle Route 5036 and Events

Culture

In Horní Lapač, the Kamenný kříž is an example of traditional Neoclassical stonework from 1866. Its corpus rests on a tall prismatic pedestal; it also includes a relief of Our Lady of Sorrows. Since 3 May 1958, the Kamenný kříž has been protected as a cultural monument.

The Litinový kříž has been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958. It is a handcrafted work from 1889 depicting the body of Christ.

The two monuments offer different ways of viewing the locality: at the Kamenný kříž, the Neoclassical design and sculptural details are foremost, while at the Litinový kříž, the craftsmanship and depiction of the body of Christ take precedence. The years also distinguish the two historic examples chronologically.

Landscape

The Litinový kříž stands in fields in the northern part of the cadastral territory of Horní Lapač, on the border with Žeranovice and Martinice. Cycle Route 5036 runs along the northern side of the cadastral territory.

Spatially, this means that an individual cultural site in the fields and a transport route at the northern edge of the cadastral territory can be considered separately. For planning a day, this results in two different levels of consideration: the exact location of a monument and the route of a designated cycle connection. Both details remain related to Horní Lapač and its immediate spatial divisions.

Village Square and Remembrance

The Chapel of St Florian was built in 1908 and stands in the village square next to the municipal office. The statue of the Virgin Mary was erected in 1946 as the inhabitants’ expression of thanks for protection during the Second World War.

The village square thus brings together a religious building and a memorial with different historical associations. The chapel refers to the year of construction, 1908, while the statue is connected with the inhabitants’ gratitude and protection during the Second World War. The municipal office provides the explicitly mentioned spatial reference for the chapel.
