Třebětice: Find a Church, Memorial Sites and a Hotel
Třebětice is a place where sacred architecture, remembrance culture and landscape features come together. Specific architectural forms, dates and geographical references make the various features of the area comprehensible.
Culture and History
The Kostel svatého Vendelína in Třebětice dates from 1794 and represents a transition to Classicism. The free-standing single-nave building comprises a presbytery, nave, sacristy and tower. Since 3 May 1958, the Kostel svatého Vendelína has been registered as a cultural monument; its registration number is 21820/7-6176.
In the built-up area of Třebětice, the memorial to those who fell in the First World War stands on the village green next to the church. It was erected in 1920 and features a two-metre-high obelisk made of Bohemian syenite. A bronze depiction of Christ’s head with a crown of thorns is mounted on the obelisk.
In the fields, the Výklenková kaplička v poli stands beside a field path leading towards Hulín. The three-sided plastered structure dates from the 18th century and has a niche on each side. The chapel was completely restored in 2021.
Before Třebětice, the Památník zastřelených stands at the junction of the Holešov–Třebětice–Količín roads, near a bus stop. The site consists of a granite slab on an elongated base and an obelisk erected next to it. The Památník zastřelených was completely restored after 2015. The village green of Třebětice also features the Socha svatého Josefa, a stone statue. It was moved from a field path behind the village to the village green and restored in 1999.
Nature and Waterways
A striking landscape feature is the Buk u mlýna. It grows on plot 346 in the cadastral area of Třebětice, near the former Čmelov Mill No. 32. The beech is 20 metres tall, has a 22-metre-wide crown and a trunk circumference of 381 centimetres. Its age is estimated at 150 years.
The Žabínek is also one of the area’s geographical features: it flows through the administrative area of Třebětice and joins the Rusava near Hulín. The Námezník stands at the confluence of the Mlýnský náhon and the Rusava in a wooded area; access is from Třebětice along the mill race.
