Mistřice – Educational Trail, Nature and Historic Chapels

The educational trail passes through the Prakšická vrchovina highlands, an area regarded as rich in fauna and flora. It also runs near Rovná hora, the highest point in the area. This extends into the nature reserve of the same name. The natural surroundings are therefore made tangible not only through a landscape designation, but also through a specific elevation and its associated protected area. The trail is well signposted and equipped with more than ten educational panels, information boards and directional signs. It is also suitable for cycling tourism.

At the beginning of the educational trail above Mistřice, visitors can see the Bilavčíkův Cross. According to historical sources, this cross is associated with a site where a battle may have taken place between the troops of the Bohemian King Jiřík of Poděbrady and the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus. This cautious tradition remains part of the historical connection, without declaring the possible site to be a confirmed battlefield.

Mistřice is also home to the “Chapel of the Holy Trinity”. It dates from 1874 to 1883: construction began in 1874, was interrupted by a devastating fire, and was completed in 1883. The chapel was consecrated on 10 November 1884. Inside are paintings by the painter Kubíček, as well as statues of the Virgin Mary, Saint Wenceslas, Saint Florian, Saint Teresa and Saint Anne.

Javorovec also preserves distinctive historical points of reference. Above the village, on the old road to Uherské Hradiště, stands a cross from 1740 bearing a cryptogram in old Czech. Javorovec is also home to a Baroque chapel. The family of František Josef Bulín had it built over his brick-built burial site; the brick chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This dedication is described as an expression of gratitude for the end of a plague epidemic.

Another connection through the area is provided by the Cyril and Methodius Trail. It runs between Maršov and Uherské Hradiště through Pašovice and Mistřice.
