Pitín – Nature and Culture in the Bílé Karpaty | Hotel

In Pitín, the regional Bojkovska cycling route No. 5049 from Uherský Brod and the Beskydy-Carpathian Main Route No. 46 meet. This main route provides cyclists with safe access to the central ridge of the Bílé Karpaty and the Moravské Kopanice region.

Several educational trails lead through Pitín and the surrounding landscape. The Naučná stezka Bojkovická runs from the Bojkovice railway station through Pitín, Hostětín, and Šanov to the Na koncích border ridge. It offers a 24 km long loop and a 16 km short loop; the educational trail has a total of 10 information panels. One of these panels covers Pitín and traditional fruit varieties.

The Naučná stezka Moravské Kopanice leads to Pitínské Paseky and the Chapel of Panny Marie Kopanické. There, it provides information about the birdlife of the surrounding landscape. The trail runs along forest and field paths and is suitable for hikers and mountain bikers.

Above Pitín, the Naučná stezka Naokolo Hostětína offers, in good visibility, views of the towers of three nearby churches as well as the more distant pilgrimage sites of Velehrad and Hostýn. One station on this educational trail is located at the Dub rodiny on the Pitínské Jahodiska.

The more than 100-year-old Dub rodiny stands on Jahodisko Hill above Pitín. In good visibility, it offers views of Pitín, the Pavlovské vrchy, Ždánický les, Chřiby, and the Vizovická pahorkatina. The Kolelač Reservoir can be seen from the viewpoint at Pitín’s former railway station.

Josef Karel Matocha was born on 14 May 1888 as the fifth child of the farmer and blacksmith Josef Matocha in Pitín No. 59. He died in Olomouc on 2 November 1961 and is buried in the cemetery in his native village of Pitín. A memorial plaque was unveiled on his birthplace at Pitín No. 59.

Next to the school in Pitín stands a stone Baroque statue of the Virgin Mary with the Child. It is attributed to Josef Winterhalter and was acquired between 1758 and 1774. The parish Church of St. Stanislav was built in 1851 on the site of an older chapel. The Stanislavské hody festival takes place around 7 May, the feast day of Saint Stanislav.

The Chapel of Panny Marie Kopanické stands in Pitínské Paseky. It was built in 1990 and consecrated on 8 September 1991. Its altar features a figure of the Virgin Mary with the Child wearing the traditional dress of the Kopaničár people. The Orel association regularly organizes the Pitěnský škrpál tourist hiking march.

Sochy v krajině is a group of 15 wooden sculptures connected by a trail. The sculptures are distributed across the cadastral areas of Hostětín, Pitín, Šanov, and Rokytnice. The project also includes the Kráva wooden sculpture above Pitín.

In summer, the swimming pool on the grounds of the NIVA sports club can be used. At the Kolelač Reservoir, access to the reservoir and fishing were prohibited due to stricter water protection measures.
