Hotel in Topolná: Open-Air Museum, Nature and Cycle Route 5055

At the village square in Topolná stand the two agricultural farmsteads, Nos. 90 and 93, belonging to the Muzeum v přírodě Topolná open-air museum. As monuments of folk architecture, they document the typical appearance of houses in the Pomoraví region, which were built from unfired bricks.

Culture

Building No. 93 of the Muzeum v přírodě Topolná is open to the public and illustrates the way of living and the furnishings of a farmstead from the late 19th century. The building’s upper chamber houses exhibitions on washing and fishing. The museum can be visited from April to October, Monday to Sunday, by prior arrangement.

The courtyard of Building No. 90 at the Muzeum v přírodě Topolná serves as a rehearsal space for the Včelaran folklore ensemble and as a stage for cultural programmes.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Topolná contains a rare statue of Saint Anne from the 18th century. Since 1999, the church has had stained-glass windows designed by Jan Jemelka.

Slovácké hody s právem continues to be celebrated in Topolná on the last Saturday and Sunday in September. During the celebrations, young people in traditional costumes accompanied by a brass band parade through the village.

Nature

The “PO TOPOLSKÝCH LÚKÁCH” nature trail is a closed circular route with original hand-painted information panels and several shelters. Its theme is flooded meadows, which are considered a historical phenomenon there.

The very rare floodplain plant violka vyvýšená grows in only a few places in Moravia, including Topolná, among other locations in the area around Kněžpolský les. The mountains of Rovná hora, Lovisko and Loučka are also located in the vicinity of Topolná.

Topolná forms part of the cycle route from Podolí via Jarošov and Kněžpole to Topolná and onward to Březolupy; the section through Topolná is designated as Cycle Route 5055.
