Culture and History

The history of Kladeruby goes back a long way: the village is first mentioned in an undated document whose origin is dated to 1141. The name also refers to the past. It derives from an Old Czech word for a settlement of lumberjacks or woodcutters.

Among the sacred buildings is the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, which was built in 1843 as a small, Baroque-style chapel. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from the mid-18th century stands on its side wall. The chapel also has a bell from 1717 depicting Saint George fighting a dragon and bearing an inscription.

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built between 1998 and 1999 within 299 days and consecrated in May 1999. The filial Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius has been open to visitors since 1999.

The cadastral territory of Kladeruby contains 125.7 hectares of forest and 14.4 hectares of water areas. Marked cycle paths 6215 and 6214 run through the same cadastral territory.

Local Details and Facilities

A wooden statue of Saint Hubert stands by a pond in the Podhájčí part of the village. Fit Zone Kladeruby includes a fitness area with exercise equipment. It is adjacent to a children’s playground, a multi-purpose court, and a workout area.
