Zdechov: Hotels and Accommodation

Zděchov lies entirely within the cadastral area of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy).

Landscape and Nature

The area around Zděchov features valuable natural landscapes such as juniper pastures, flower-rich meadows with orchids, and preserved woodland.

On the eastern slope of Žďár (689 m), in the cadastral area of Zděchov, there is a protected natural site with a preserved part of the typical Wallachian landscape, a so-called juniper pasture, and several orchid species.

Culture and History

At the Firefighting Technology Museum in Zděchov, visitors can view firefighting uniforms, old photographs, and fire pumps. Notable exhibits include a still-functioning fire engine from 1904.

Krosienkové bonnets were traditionally made in Zděchov as part of the Wallachian folk costume; they are known as “zděcháky”.

The Roman Catholic Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Zděchov is a protected cultural monument and was built in 1778 under Maria Theresa. Hajdovy Paseky was declared a village heritage conservation zone in 2004.

Leisure and Winter Sports

Nordic walking poles can be borrowed at the Zděchov municipal office for the educational trail and Nordic walking route. The swimming pool in Zděchov features a pool, a multipurpose sports field, a children’s paddling pool, a slide, and refreshments.

The Zděchov sports complex includes a 360 m-long ski lift; the associated slope is of medium difficulty, has an elevation difference of 80 m, and is groomed with a piste-grooming machine. There are numerous cross-country skiing trails around Zděchov, which are machine-groomed when snow conditions are favorable.

Route and Event

A 16 km running route leads from the car park at the Zděchov swimming pool via the Pod Filkou saddle, the Radošov sedlo saddle, Skaličí, and Pulčín with the Pulčín icefalls and a viewpoint over the Pulčín Rocks, returning to Zděchov.

The Zděchovská 30 event takes place annually in Zděchov.
