Zašová: Pilgrimage, Springs and Hotels

Zašová offers a broad range of themes: pilgrimage and sacred history are complemented by spring landscapes, trails, events, wellness, cycling and winter sports. The different places and activities reveal the character of the municipality from several perspectives.

Nature and Trails

The Stračka pilgrimage site is located on a hillside, where a spring rises. The 4.6-kilometre Velký okruh walking loop starts here and leads around Stračka, Pohoř and through the surrounding forests.

Pilgrims and visitors to Zašová draw water every day from the forest spring in the Stračka pilgrimage area. Its water quality is variable and may deteriorate, especially in high temperatures and rain.

The educational trail through Veselá presents the history and nature of Veselá. In the nearby area, between Veselá and Hrachovec, there is also a spring area at U tří studánek with four springs of varying output.

Also in the nearby area, water from the springs at U tří studánek flows into a hand-built pool depression. Salamanders live at this pool.

Culture and Pilgrimage

The pilgrimage Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Zašová was built at the beginning of the 18th century by the owners of the Valašské Meziříčí–Rožnov estate. The Baroque high altar features a Gothic panel painting of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child from the mid-15th century.

The pilgrimage Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is open to the public from 1 May to 28 September. Opening hours are Saturdays from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00, and Sundays and public holidays from 13:00 to 17:00.

The Trinitarian monastery in Zašová is the only surviving monastery of this order in the Czech Republic. The monastery garden is freely accessible year-round.

A mobile app offers an experience game about the history and work of the Trinitarian order. The game is suitable for adults and children aged eight and over.

Veselá also has notable examples of its architectural and local history: The vicarage retains its Josephine character from 1785 and is protected as a cultural monument. St Martin’s Church has been a prominent landmark in the landscape since 1821 and is one of the last monuments of the Josephine architectural style in Wallachia.

Events and Leisure

Guided tours in Zašová are available for groups and excursions on request. Zašovská pouť takes place every year on the first Sunday after 2 July, following the Feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary. Zašovské slavnosti takes place every year on the first Saturday in September.

A pump track for cycling was built in the Skály area in 2024. It is publicly accessible around the clock.

The Relaxační centrum Salza offers a salt cave, massages, body and ear candling, biopedicure, an infrared sauna, a biolamp and other wellness services.

Skiareál Veselá has ski slopes with artificial snow that are groomed and lit every day.
