Valašské Příkazy: Hotels and Accommodation

Valašské Příkazy lies in a valley between the Vizovice Highlands and the White Carpathians. The Dúbravka stream, which flows through the village, forms the imaginary dividing line between the two mountain ranges. The section of the Bevlava Cycle Route from Ústí u Vsetína ends in Valašské Příkazy.

Trails and Landscape

A road connection and a railway line between Vsetín and Valašské Klobouky run through Valašské Příkazy. A marked hiking trail leads from Valašské Příkazy into the White Carpathians. The eastern route runs via Študlov to the 791-metre-high Požár peak, where hiking trails cross. Both hikes and bike rides are possible from Valašské Příkazy.

The Bevlava section to Valašské Příkazy is marked, runs on asphalt, and has an easy profile.

Nature

In the wider surroundings of Valašské Příkazy, the Ploština nature reserve of the same name lies on the southern slope of Ploština. It is home to a natural fir-beech forest and protected plants in the undergrowth. North of Valašské Příkazy lie the Lačnovské rybníky ponds, where fishing is possible.

Local Life

Valašské Příkazy offers visitors a local inn and tourist accommodation. Next to the FC Valašské Příkazy football pitch is a tennis court built for local residents. The Pozorovatelna Durch is located on the Královec ridge below the Kyjanice peak and offers passers-by a place to sit and rest.

Culture and History

In Valašské Příkazy, the Easter tradition of “ščukotání” is maintained: school-age boys walk through the village with “ščukotávky” and “tragači”, replacing the daily ringing during the “flight of the bells to Rome”. The local volunteer fire brigade association revived the tradition of fire brigade balls; this event is a popular cultural occasion in the surrounding area.

The oldest building in Valašské Příkazy is an inn on the main road dating from 1829. The first written mention of Příkazy dates from 1503. A chapel built in 1968 stands in the village centre.

History of the Distilleries

From 1750 onward, the distilleries in Příkazy held a manorial privilege to distil Slivovice and Borovička. One of the distilleries is still known today for producing high-quality Slivovice.
