Culture

The Church of St. Nicholas stands on original Gothic foundations from the 14th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it was remodelled in the Baroque style. Beneath the church is a crypt where several members of the Minkvice family are buried, including Jan Adam and Regina M. of Lukov Castle. High-ranking aristocratic officials also found their final resting place there.

Hrubá hospoda stands on Náměstí Míru, a building dating from the 17th century. Its architectural features include a Renaissance core, vaulted ceilings, a mázhauz and large cellars. The tradition of annual markets in Fryšták began with a decree issued by Emperor Ferdinand I in 1550. It was later confirmed by Joseph II in 1784 and by Francis I in 1794.

Between the church and the rectory, in a landscaped area, stands a bust of the first Czech Salesian, Fr. Ignác Stuchlý. Next to the Church of St. Nicholas there is also a memorial chestnut tree more than 250 years old. Both places are named elements of Fryšták’s historical and spiritual surroundings.

Local Life

The former hospital in Fryšták now serves as a rest area with an indoor fountain. The building’s former character is thus retained in its designation, while its present-day function as a rest area with a fountain inside is described.

A pump track is located on the grounds of Hřiště FC Fryšták. Another specific facility in the town is Dům Ignáce Stuchlého. Particularly during the summer season, it offers refreshments and accommodation for visitors to the town.
