Rokytnice: Hotels and Nature in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area

Rokytnice lies in the valley of the Rokytenka stream. The planning area is part of the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area, while Rokytnice is also located on the boundary between the ethnographic regions of South Wallachia and Slovácko.

Nature

The European Natura 2000 sites Valentová and Na Koncoch are located within the planning area of Rokytnice. Valentová comprises alluvial forests along streams, species-rich beech forests and mesic tall-oat meadows, as well as numerous other wetland habitats. Na Koncoch is characterized by species-rich beech forests, meadows, pastures, spring areas and alluvial forests along streams. The two names therefore refer to different, precisely designated landscape features within the area.

One of the notable open landscapes is Jasla. The extensive meadow lies on the boundary between the cadastral areas of Rokytnice and Kochavec. A hunting lodge stands on Jasla, from which Svatý Hostýn, approximately 60 kilometers away, can be seen in good visibility. The distance is only an approximate figure and describes the view from this specific location.

Experiences

The local countryside around Rokytnice is visited by tourists and cyclists. Cross-country skiing takes place in the local landscape in winter. A designated cycling tour, variant A, leads from Pitín via Rokytnice to Štítná nad Vláří, thereby connecting the village with other stops along the route.

Recurring and traditional events are also part of the local character. The Czech-Slovak gathering at Peňažné takes place at the state border every year on the penultimate Saturday in August, together with the partner municipality of Horná Súča.

Culture

A traditional Fašank procession celebration took place in Rokytnice in February. Fašank refers here to a specifically named local custom and complements the landscape-related features with a cultural event in the village.

Bus route 193 connects Slavičín, Šanov and Bojkovice and serves the Rokytnice, Obecní dům stop.
