In the cadastral area of Lukoveček, the Pod Obecním kopcem natural monument protects forest tufa springs. It lies approximately 3.3 km northeast of Lukoveček at an elevation of 480 to 565 m. Its forest consists of species-rich beech woodland with several forest springs; species-rich beech woodland communities predominate there.

Nature

Pernikářská also encompasses woodland stands with a tufa spring. The Pernikářská natural monument protects forest tufa springs, and its wider surroundings provide an important refuge and breeding habitat for several bird species. Fossils have been found near Lukoveček in the limestone known as Dubové hory. The flooded quarry east of the disused quarry is known as Doležalova skala, or Mořské oko. North of Lukoveček, the disused sandstone-wall quarry was designated a significant landscape-forming element in 2004. The Ondřejovsko natural monument lies in the cadastral area of Lukoveček.

Culture

The chapel in the centre of Lukoveček was built in 1879. The new chapel was ceremonially consecrated on 21 September 1884. A monument to the first Czechoslovak president, T. G. Masaryk, was erected near the chapel in 1932 and unveiled again in 1945. Lukoveček is also home to a Stone Age Stations of the Cross.

Events

The Končinová tradition is regularly observed in Lukoveček. It includes a carnival procession led by a shaggy bear and the symbolic burial of the double bass. A tasting of slivovitz is held regularly around the turn of February and March. At the also regularly held event “Dračky a mašlovačky”, visitors can try traditional crafts. “Festiválek na Kopečku” takes place around the turn of July and August and is dedicated to folk and country music.

Routes

A 40-km cycle route runs through Lukoveček via Holešov, Lukoveček, Fryšták, Březová, Rusava, Lukoveček and Velká Bystřice. The Rusavské chodníčky route is 12 km long, moderately difficult and has 510 metres of ascent; it leads via the Lukoveček turn-off. The approximately 1-km-long educational trail begins at the bridge at the location called “Pod dědinů”. From the town centre, it follows the Fryštácký potok upstream and is equipped with four information panels.

Sports and Play

The multi-purpose sports complex in Lukoveček includes an artificial-turf pitch for football, nohejbal, volleyball and basketball. The complex also has a children’s play area with a rope pyramid, swings, toddler seesaws and a slide with a tower.
