Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov in the White Carpathians Valley

Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov lies in the White Carpathians Valley. The Vlára River flows through the town.

Landscape

Local hiking and cycling routes make it possible to get to know the nature of the White Carpathians. One special cycling route is called „Na kole motýlími lukami“: it runs along the Czech-Slovak border and leads to flowering meadows. Another type of activity is offered by the „Čarovnou zemí Gabry a Málinky“ excursion, which leads uphill to the ridge of the White Carpathians. This places different forms of movement and two different landscape contexts side by side. The cycling tour connects the border area with open meadows, while the excursion incorporates the ascent as a defining element. This allows you to choose between a bicycle tour and an outing involving an ascent when planning your own day, without combining the two activities into a single itinerary.

Culture

The parish Church of Saint Joseph the Worker dates from 1787. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from the 1730s. Both dates refer to different historical points of reference within the town. Together, they show that a cultural visit is not limited to a single era but makes various periods visible.

The Minimuzeum Gabra a Málinka displays documents, manuscripts and photographs of the entire Tauber family. Since 2002, the Minimuzeum Gabra a Málinka has been established as a permanent exhibition in the local library. The exhibition thus combines different document types with a permanent place in community life. The church, statue and museum represent different approaches to the history of the town: sacred architectural and commemorative landmarks complement the documentary collection.

The traditional Popovské slavnosti also form part of the town's cultural calendar and take place with the participation of hundreds of visitors. Alongside the permanently established cultural points of interest, there is therefore also a recurring festival event tied to the events calendar.

Leisure

The municipal outdoor swimming pool offers a beach volleyball court, a children's playground with climbing frames and swings, as well as refreshment facilities. The amenities combine sports activities, play areas and an option for refreshments in one place. The ski lift is out of operation.

Location

Štítná Nad Vláří-Popov lies on the main road between Broumovem-Bylnicí and Slavičín. Its location on this connection represents a separate geographical aspect alongside the town's landscape, cultural and leisure offerings. This gives the town's profile several clearly distinguishable themes: the valley and river, routes and excursion destinations, historical landmarks, a permanent exhibition, a festival event and the municipal outdoor swimming pool.
