Wellness and Thermal Water
Tskaltubo is a balneological spa town that offers relaxation and therapeutic treatments all year round. Those wishing to book a hotel in Tskaltubo can then continue searching for accommodation. The town’s mineral water naturally has an optimal temperature of 35 °C. The thermal baths receive their water directly from the springs, without it being heated or cooled. Treatments may include daily thermal baths lasting twenty minutes each. The microclimate of the karst caves is also used as a natural therapeutic factor.
Nature
Tskaltubo Central Park covers 70 hectares. Its amenities include footpaths, bridges, tree-lined avenues, evergreen and rare trees, as well as decorative flower beds. The park also contains the “Spring of Beauty” fountain, rides and tennis courts.
Nearby, the route through Prometheus Cave ends with a walking or boat tour along the underground course of the Kumi River.
Culture and History
The local Tskaltubo History Museum preserves around 30,000 exhibits and displays material dating from the Paleolithic to the Late Feudal period. Tetra Cave opened as an ecotourism site in 2019. It contains a 2,000 square-metre underground limestone chamber with stalactites and stalagmites. Tetra Cave is also associated with evidence of prehistoric human settlement dating back around 30,000 years.
Local Life
Tetra Cave offers natural wine maturation and on-site tastings. The Otia Ioseliani House-Museum is located in the heart of Tskaltubo. A small winery and a brewery are also located in the heart of the town.
At the Tskaltubo farmers’ market, natural products from local farmers and freshly baked Georgian bread are available.
