Eniseli: Hotels and Accommodation

Eniseli is located in Kakheti, which is described as Georgia’s leading wine-growing region. Of the 25 indigenous wines registered in Georgia, 19 come from Kakheti. Eniseli is part of the Kvareli wine microzone; its Eniseli section lies on the second terrace of the Alazani River. The vineyards in the Kvareli microzone for Kvareli wine are situated at elevations of 250 to 550 metres above sea level.

Culture and History

The Gremi Monastery complex in Kakheti is a 15th-century fortified city featuring a church, a palace bell tower, a wine cellar, defensive walls, an underground passage, bathhouses, smaller churches and a museum.

The historic wine cellar associated with Zakaria Jorjadze stores up to 120 clay qvevris. Its grounds feature a European-style château that was built in 1888 and later restored by Jorjadze’s descendants. The wine cellar also houses a family archive containing photographs, letters, diaries and documents relating to Zakaria Jorjadze’s life and work.

Wine and Cuisine

Eniseli Bagrationi processes Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane and Saperavi grapes from the local microzone, which encompasses Eniseli, Shilda and Gremi. Dry red and white wines, sparkling wine and aged cognac spirits are produced there. Eniseli Bagrationi also produces preserved fruits and juices according to old family recipes and using local fruit varieties.

Chateau Eniseli combines winemaking with family-style cuisine: traditional dishes are prepared using local, organic products. Pairing traditional dishes with wine is part of Chateau Eniseli’s gastronomic approach.

Visitors can observe the winemaking processes at Chateau Eniseli, sample products and taste exclusive wines. Guided tours can be arranged there on request.
