Culture and History
Monoszló lies six kilometers north of Lake Balaton, on the eastern edge of the Káli-medence, in the small Monoszlói-medence.
South of the settlement, Hegyestű comprises a geological educational site and a quarry museum; there, an almost 50-meter-high quarry wall exposes the interior of the basalt volcano.
Hegyestű is a presentation site of Balaton-felvidék National Park and part of Hungary's first geopark. From the lookout point at the basalt organ, clear weather offers a view of the flat-topped hills of Balaton-felvidék.
The Reformed Church of Monoszló, formerly the Church of Saint Michael, was originally probably built in the Romanesque style in the 12th or 13th century and dedicated to Saint Michael in 1476.
