What do the buildings and memorial tell us about the place?
Both the construction period and the form of the manor house are known: it was built in the second half of the 19th century on a rectangular ground plan. A ground plan describes the shape of a building as viewed from above. This helps put two different aspects of the architecture into context: when it was built and its rectangular layout.
The historic palace and park complex now serves a municipal function: it is the seat of the municipal office. Krzyżanów has a memorial to the municipality’s residents who fell in the war of 1914–1920. The building’s history, its present-day use as an office, and the remembrance of those who fell are distinct ways of looking at Krzyżanów.
