Nature and Trails

The Valea Uzului hiking trail crosses the main ridge of the Nemira Mountains and takes 9 to 10 hours. The Șaua Nemirei hiking trail begins in Slănic-Moldova and takes 4 to 5 hours. The different walking times provide a clear comparison between longer and shorter outings.

The 300 de scări trail begins near the mineral spring area of Slănic-Moldova and returns via the Popas area along the Cheile Slănicului. The Cheile and the Cascada Slănicului are part of the 300 de scări trail. The trail is an easy forest walk that requires neither special physical preparation nor special equipment for mountain hikes; it can be walked in summer and winter.

The Traseu Belvedere begins in Parcul Central and leads to a viewpoint after a 2 km, 45-minute walk. The Nemira ski slope is 1,414 m long, classified as easy and has an average gradient of 17.6%. Trails, forest walks, viewpoints and ski slopes thus represent different forms of activity.

Water and History

The first mineral spring in Slănic-Moldova was discovered on July 20, 1801, by Serdar Mihalache Spiridon. There are currently nine licensed mineral springs in the Slănic-Moldova spa resort. The mineral waters from Slănic-Moldova received gold medals at exhibitions in Vienna (1873), Paris (World's Fair 1889) and Bucharest (Cooperative Exhibition 1894).

Parcul Central covers 4.16 hectares and offers tourists an attractively designed setting for leisure activities. The Foișor Muzical in Parcul Central was built in the Art Nouveau style. The Cazinoul Regal was completed in 1894 according to the plans of the architects George Sterian and H. Rick. The springs thus stand alongside buildings whose names, dates of construction and stylistic features provide different historical points of reference.

Culture and Events

The Festival of Christmas and New Year's Customs in the Old Style took place for the seventh time on January 5, 2025, in Parcul Central in Slănic-Moldova. The festival has become a tradition and brings together bear groups, mask groups and groups of carol singers from the valleys of the Slănic and the Trotuș.

In August 2025, Slănic-Moldova hosted the two-day event “La izvor de tradiție”, which was dedicated to tradition, folk costumes and folk singing. For July 4, 2026, the mountain running event “Legendele Nemirei” announced a half marathon of approximately 26 km, a 14 km cross-country race and a children's race.
