Nature

Dumbrava Vadului, also known as Poiana cu Narcise, covers approximately 400 hectares. Thousands of daffodils (Narcissus stellarus) grow there among scattered oak trees. The combination of the river course and the extensive area provides different spatial reference points for travel planning.

The single-track Brașov–Sibiu railway crosses the territory of Șercaia commune from east to west over approximately 11 km. There are two stations for passenger transport: Gara Șercaia and Halta Șercaia; one of them also serves freight traffic.

In addition, National Road 73A connects Șercaia with Râșnov; 5.2 km of this road run through the territory of Șercaia commune.

Further regional reference points also include Victoria, Ghimbav, Prejmer, Cristian, Fundata, Bunești, Poiana Mărului and Cheia.

Decorating Easter eggs (“închistritul” or “împistritul”) has long been a cherished tradition and art in Șercaia. Girls and women learn it within the family or from particularly skilled practitioners.

There are currently several women in Șercaia who have mastered and practice this art. Children’s workshops were held at the Centrul social-cultural al bisericii „Sfântul Nicolae” in Șercaia, where children were introduced to the art of decorating eggs.

Since 2001, the Festivalul narciselor has been held every year in Șercaia commune on the Sunday closest to 21 May. The 2025 museum program ended with a șezătoare, where traditional dishes and Plăcinte were sampled.

In 2025, the event Noaptea Muzeelor la Sate was celebrated for the third consecutive time.

When choosing a hotel in Șercaia, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be weighed against your budget. This is helpful when a trip combines different focuses: the riverside landscape and Dumbrava Vadului, the churches and the museum, or the Festivalul narciselor. This allows travelers to determine in advance which themes and dates are key to their stay, within the available time and budget.
