Râşnov: Churches, Karst and Mountain Destinations
At Dino Parc Râşnov, the ride on the Dino Trenulețul travels for about half a kilometre around the park and takes approximately eight minutes. The park railway operates as a tour around the park grounds and has a limited journey time of around eight minutes. Nature and mountain destinations
Peștera Valea Cetății can be reached from the Poiana Brașov–Râşnov road via a 450-metre-long footpath through the wooded karst of the Valea Cetății nature reserve. This section of the route lies in the reserve’s wooded karst and provides access from the road to the cave mentioned above. Current trail conditions for footpaths through wooded karst can be checked before setting out. Several named mountain destinations are located in the vicinity of Râşnov: Coltii Ghimbavului, Runcu and Coastei are peaks. Cristianul Mare is also nearby and is a mountain.
Churches and places of remembrance
The ensemble of the Sf. Mathias de la Râşnov Church was built as a three-nave Protestant basilica with a tower on the west side. The ensemble also includes a medieval surrounding wall dating from the 13th to the 15th century. The basilica, west tower and surrounding wall are structural components of the same church ensemble. The Protestant church in Râşnov remains an important place of remembrance for the local Saxon community. Current opening hours for historic church ensembles can be checked before visiting.
Further church and monastery destinations are located around Râşnov. Mânăstire Predeal is a monastery, while Biserica Poiana Mărului is a church. St. Nicholas Church, Braşov, and Black Church are also located in the surrounding area; both destinations are churches. Cycling and winter sports
Râşnov has five MTB trails with different difficulty levels. Current trail conditions can be checked before setting out on an MTB ride. On 16 July 2009, construction began in Valea Cărbunării on Râşnov’s Olympic ski-jumping and biathlon complex. This complex is considered Romania’s first ski-jumping centre meeting international standards. The sports available in Râşnov range from five MTB trails of varying difficulty to the ski-jumping and biathlon complex in Valea Cărbunării.
