Lunca Vișagului is a widely scattered mountain village covering dozens of square kilometres. Only a few houses stand in the valley; other parts of the village lie on the surrounding hills. Nature

The Drăgan Dam near Lunca Vișagului is a 120-metre-high, double-curvature concrete arch dam. Drăgan Reservoir covers 292 hectares and holds 112 million cubic metres of water. As a protected area, Drăgan Reservoir lies within the administrative territories of the communes of Poieni and Săcuieu, in the upper Drăgan Valley.

Piatra Bănișorului is a nature reserve of county-level significance with scenic value. Cascada Moara Dracului is formed by a tributary of the Drăgan that flows down from Vârful Buteasa in the valley’s headwaters. In the surrounding area there is a two-tiered waterfall approximately 20 to 25 metres high. The reservoir, protected areas and waterfalls offer different focal points that you can consider side by side for your planning.

Trails

The DJ 764B county road section runs from the DN1 via Valea Drăganului and Lunca Vișagului to Drăgan Reservoir and the DJ 108K. It extends from km 0+000 to km 22+165 and is 22.165 kilometres long. Route length and trail types offer different reference points for your own planning.

The Vlădeasa Massif belongs to the Apuseni Mountains and thus to the range of the Western Carpathians; its highest peak is the 1,836-metre-high Vârful Vlădeasa. The hiking trail from Valea Drăganului to Cabana Vlădeasa leads to Piatra Bănișorului, a rock formation with a cross at its summit. At Gura Bulzului there is a forest road and an easily walkable hiking trail to Cabana Vlădeasa.

Along the route from Lunca Vișagului via Valea Bulzului, Poiana Sentei offers views of Valea Darei. Houses belonging to Lunca Vișagului can be seen from the Zărnișoara Valley. Starting points, destinations and viewpoints can be read as separate spatial reference points for your own planning.

Culture

Traditional farm buildings, houses, hay barns and flower-decorated houses shape the village character of Lunca Vișagului. The present-day stone church of Lunca Vișagului was built in 1931. The “măsurișul laptelui” is a local celebration and a named custom. Near the colony, the herds are brought together in May.
