Discover Mărişel: Culture, Nature and Trails
Mărişel combines its traditional everyday culture with tangible details: the Muzeul Satului Mărișel displays traditional objects that are more than 150 years old, including a loom from 1906. At the same museum, you can learn about the processing of hemp.
Culture
The traditional costume of Mărișel includes men’s cioareci woven from wool or hemp, as well as cămașă and suman; for women, it includes zadie, poale, ie and suman. The traditional festival at Crucea Iancului takes place annually on the second Sunday in July. Crucea lui Avram Iancu is a historic monument in the Fântânele area of the municipality of Mărișel.
Nature
Țâcla Gavrii is a very high cliff above a large forested area. From the summit of Țâcla Gavrii, you can see distant mountains and the scattered houses of Măguri Răcătău.
Hiking Trails
The Circuitul Țâcla Gavrii loop trail is about four kilometres long and has around 300 metres of elevation gain. It starts at the Țâcla car park, passes through a forested area and reaches the Țâcla Gavrii viewpoint. The Rusești–Dâlboacă–Colții Șoimului–Rusești loop trail is about 12.5 kilometres long and has around 700 metres of elevation gain. It passes through a section of the Someșul Cald gorge, as well as across a plateau and a ridge with six viewpoints overlooking the Gilău Mountains. This loop trail starts in the hamlet of Rusești in the municipality of Mărișel. The different trail lengths and elevation figures help you compare various tour sizes in advance.
The Fântânele–Gorge Entrance loop trail is marked with a red dot, takes about four hours and has a low difficulty level. The Fântânele–Quarry trail is marked with a yellow dot, takes about one hour and also has a low difficulty level. The Fântânele–Iancului Cross trail is marked with a blue dot, takes about two hours and likewise has a low difficulty level.
Winter and Astronomy
The Mărișel Copcea ski resort has three ski slopes with different levels of difficulty. The Observator Astronomic Mărișel has so far hosted dozens of school camps as well as astronomy and radio astronomy courses for teachers.
Road Connection
The DJ 107N roundabout is directly connected to the DJ 107P Gilău–Mărișel road and provides access to the DN 1 national road and the motorway interchange near Gilău.

A loop trail marked with a yellow dot starts in the area of the church in Mărișel, passes through the forest and reaches Trei Pâraie, where three water mills and rest areas have been set up; along the way, there are views of the Leșu Valley.
