The Ciurila lake complex in the Hășdate Valley consists of three lakes arranged in a cascade: Filea (Ciurila I), Șutu (Ciurila II) and Pădureni (Ciurila III). The fish farming facility of the lake complex covers 42 hectares, extends over 2.5 kilometres and has a water volume of 1.413 million cubic metres. The area figure refers to the fish farming facility, while the three lakes are arranged as a cascade in the valley.

Nature

The Pârâul Dumbrava nature reserve covers 0.5 hectares and is a natural meadow area in the floodplain of the Dumbrava Filei stream. The legally protected orchid Papucul Doamnei (Cypripedium calceolus) grows in the protected area. The lake complex and nature reserve therefore represent two different natural features: a large-scale, cascade-like water facility and a small protected meadow area. The scale of the two natural areas therefore differs considerably.

Culture

Ciurila is home to a wooden church dedicated to “Intrarea în biserică a Maicii Domnului”, dating from 1755. The rural cultural heritage of the municipality of Ciurila includes old houses built in the traditional Transylvanian style, as well as simple, carved or painted wooden furniture.

In these old houses, the wooden rod known as “Culmea” is located above the bed or around the stove. It was originally used for drying or hanging clothes, now serves a decorative function and has survived in some places to this day. The church, houses and furniture thus point to different forms of the traditional built and living environment.

Surroundings

The nearby surroundings of Ciurila include Biserica Pruniş church, Biserica Sălişte church and the Vârful Peana peak. The surrounding area also includes the Vârful Ţâcluiul peak, Mânăstirea Floreşti Monastery, Mânăstirea Feleacu Monastery, as well as Dealul Melinilor and Dealul Sălaşului mountains. The immediate vicinity and the broader surrounding area therefore constitute separate geographical references. Biserica Pruniş, Biserica Sălişte and Vârful Peana belong to the immediate vicinity, while the other destinations mentioned belong to the area around Ciurila.

Experiences

In the village of Sălicea, visitors can pet, photograph and feed animals at the Moara de Vânt ZooParc. Route 28MN12 runs along the edge of Ciurila and follows the Pârâul Dumbrava 50 metres upstream. Nature, animal experiences and the route are therefore presented as different topics alongside one another.

Transport

Metro line M16 operates between Str. Posada and Ciurila. In addition to the landscape, cultural and route-related topics, this also identifies a specific public transport connection for travel planning.

When choosing a hotel in Ciurila, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be compared separately. Accommodation details and the landscape theme are thus presented alongside one another; the comparison points remain clearly separate.
