Dalnic – Church Ensemble, Arboretum and Diver’s Lake
Dalnic first draws attention to its Reformed church ensemble. It comprises a medieval Reformed church with construction phases dating from the 13th century, a renovation in 1526 and work carried out in the 19th century; the stone building is believed to have been constructed in the second half of the 13th century. For a visit that does not wish to reduce historical development to a single date, several clearly defined periods can be found within the ensemble. For your own preparation, a thematic structure is useful: the church ensemble, garden, organised excursion and water activities are separate topics. Differences in format, time details and appointment arrangements can be considered separately.
Culture and history
After earthquake debris was removed, a runic inscription and a Latin inscription in Gothic script dating from the 15th and 16th centuries were discovered in the Reformed church. At the centre of Dalnic stands a monumental statue of Dózsa György; Szobotka András created it in 1976. Dalnic is also home to a memorial plaque for Dózsa György, created in 1949. For groups, a visit to the Reformed church was possible by prior arrangement, including outside visiting hours. Written records and memorial sites can be considered separately during your own preparation as distinct aspects of the cultural theme.
Garden and manor house
A botanical highlight is the arboretum in the Beczásy Garden. It includes Ginkgo biloba, the Engelmann spruce (Picea engelmannii), the kobus magnolia (Magnolia kobus) and a maple species (Acer hyrcanum) that is very rare in the area. The botanical names clearly distinguish the four woody plants mentioned and give the garden stop a precise, factual character. The organised excursion “Excursie în Ținutul Conacelor” includes the Gál Manor in Dalnic as a stop. The information on the arboretum and excursion describes two different formats that can be noted separately when planning your own visit.

Water
On 17 July 2026, the second underwater photography exhibition was opened at the Diver’s Lake in Dalnic; it was created in collaboration between My Lake and Visit Covasna. In a diver’s lake in Dalnic, an underwater gallery displayed ten photographs of representative churches in Covasna County at a depth of approximately three metres. The underwater gallery could be visited from 18 July to 31 August 2026 by prior appointment. The opening date, visiting period and appointment requirement form a separate timeframe for planning. My Lake’s three-hour diving experience included professional preparation and complete diving equipment.
