The Isvoarele-Fântânele settlement is classified as a Neolithic and Eneolithic settlement. West of the village of Izvoarele lies the archaeological site “La Fântână”. Taken together, these represent two different approaches to the past: a settlement classified as prehistoric and an archaeological site located west of the village.

Culture and History

The “Cuvioasa Paraschiva” Church in Izvoarele is classified as a building of local interest and dates from 1890.

Churches with precisely documented construction dates also stand in other places in the commune: the “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” Church in Chiriacu dates from 1902. The “Sfântul Nicolae” Church in Dimitrie Cantemir dates from 1879. In Petru Rareș, the “Sfântul Nicolae” Church dates from 1885 and was rebuilt in 1938. The “Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavril” Church in Valea Bujorului dates from 1850. The different construction and rebuilding years give the historical topics a chronological progression.

For placing the churches in time, their respective locations and the documented year of construction or rebuilding stand alongside one another as separate criteria. This makes it possible to arrange the places mentioned chronologically or by location, without anticipating a fixed visiting sequence or ranking.

The churches can be considered side by side according to their year of construction and location; this keeps the historical information separate and clear. Such a comparison allows different interests to be considered alongside one another without anticipating a fixed itinerary for the day.

Experiences and Local Products

Sport fishing is possible at the Izvoarele 1 basin (Chiriacu). On September 29, 2024, the third edition of the “Ziua Comunei Izvoarele” event took place; this edition included a market for local products such as preserves, honey, baked goods and confectionery, pastrami, cheese and nuts.

The date and the third edition place the market within the context of the event. Sport fishing and local products remain two separate subject areas that differ in nature: one is a possible activity, while the other represents goods offered at a market.

Sport fishing and a market with local products represent different ways of considering the topics available. Those who want to compare cultural sites, nature and local products separately when planning a trip will find several clearly distinct focal points in Izvoarele.

For hotels in Izvoarele, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be considered side by side as practical points of reference. The accommodation decision thus remains a separate question alongside the various local topics, from archaeology and churches to lowlands, sport fishing and local products.

Landscape and Nature

The commune of Izvoarele is located in a lowland region. Mănafu Forest lies west of the village of Valea Bujorului.

Mănafu Forest was designated a forest reserve in 1954 and covers 278 hectares. It consists of downy oaks mixed with Turkey oaks, Hungarian oaks and planted acacias.

To classify the forest, its location, year of designation, area and tree composition can be considered separately; these characteristics represent geographical, temporal, spatial and botanical aspects.
