The 824 m-high andesite tower Piatra Șoimilor rises above the Olt Valley and offers panoramic views of the natural surroundings. Two yellow hawkweed species occur in the Piatra Șoimilor Nature Reserve that are found only there in Romania: Teleki's hawkweed (Hieracium telekianum) and Hieracium piloselloides.
Nature
The Surduc Peak is located in the immediate vicinity of Băile Tușnad. Bastionul Apor was built at an elevation of 761 m in the lower section of the peak in 1883. Bastionul Apor is a lookout point and resting place and was never used as a strategic site.
The Cetatii Peak, Ciomatul Mic Peak and Ciomatul Mare Peak are also located in the immediate vicinity of Băile Tușnad. For planning purposes, you can categorize the named natural sites separately. A brief comparison of elevation, views and plant discoveries organizes the nature-related topics without equating them.
The Izvorul Apor spring adds another named point to the area's features: it is a spring for general use in the spa town of Băile Tuşnad and is located in a decorative pavilion. Unlike the peaks and the nature reserve, it is therefore categorized as a spring in the spa town; the pavilion is its explicitly mentioned structural feature.
Wellness
Wellness Tușnad is located in the center of the spa town of Băile Tușnad next to Lacul Ciucaș. Wellness Tușnad has a thermal water pool. The wellness area includes a Finnish sauna, a steam cabin, an infrared sauna, a salt room and a massage salon.
Culture
During the renovation of Bastionul Apor in 2017, an exhibition area with panels featuring archive images and a brief account of its history was set up inside. The Orthodox Church of Băile Tușnad is painted inside and outside and is presented as a copy of Voroneț Monastery.
The Casa Memorială Imre Nagy, a historic site, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Băile Tușnad. The Mânăstirea Ortodoxă Sfântul Nicolae Monastery, the Monumentul Luptei Anticomuniste and the Monumentul Eroului Român are also located in this wider regional area. When planning personally, you can consider destinations in the town, in the immediate vicinity and in the wider regional area as separate spatial levels.
For personal planning, you can read the main areas separately: viewpoints and nature observation, local facilities, the exhibition and church, as well as the more broadly defined cultural sites, form different thematic levels. The spatial information helps ensure that destinations in the immediate vicinity and destinations in the wider regional area are not treated as belonging to the same category.
Băile Tușnad is served by Regio and Inter-Regio trains on the CF 400 Brașov–Deda railway line.
When comparing a hotel in Băile Tușnad, you can review travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions side by side. These offer details represent a separate planning aspect alongside the local sights and facilities.
Other places in the same region include Subcetate, Senetea, Sâncrai, Dittersdorf, Praid, Siculeni, Dănești and Voşlăbeni.
