Balotești: Therme, Nature and History

Balotești combines extensive sandy areas, water and wellness facilities, active leisure destinations, and notable landmarks from the area’s history. As a result, very different aspects of the municipality in Ilfov County come together within a compact thematic area.

Water-Based Experiences

Sands of Therme Beach covers 30,000 square metres of fine sand in Balotești. The site includes a tropical pool, a beach club and a burger station. The large sandy area gives the location a distinct beach character, while the pool, club and food options form additional parts of the same area.

Therme București is located on National Road DN1 in Balotești, immediately outside Bucharest. The Palm Main Pool offers thermal water heated to 33°C. The pool also includes a pool bar, a whirlpool and hydromassage beds. The water and warmth there are complemented by these facilities.

Active Leisure and Parks

Edenland Park is located at Strada Cantonului No. 12 in Balotești, Ilfov. Its 16 treetop courses have different levels of difficulty and are intended for children and adults.

Eden Ranch includes a 4,200-square-metre outdoor riding arena. In Pangea Park, a 3,800-square-metre green puzzle forms a facility inspired by the formation of the Earth. The leisure offering therefore includes treetop courses, equestrian activities and a themed park design.

Culture and Remembrance

The parish church of Balotești was built in 1763 by Zamfirache and Elena. It is dedicated to Saints Nicholas, Theodore Tiron and Stelian. Its year of construction, founders and dedication provide the church with its traditional historical reference points.

The Balotești monument was created after the 1989 Revolution. It commemorates the local heroes of 1916–1919, 1941–1945 and December 1989. The monument consists of two prismatic red-granite structures and bears a granite cross. Its design combines the two granite structures with the religiously significant symbol of the cross.

Landscape of the Vlăsia Plain

The municipality of Balotești lies in the southern part of the Vlăsia Plain, also known as the Bucharest Plain. The landscape includes 184 hectares of bodies of water and reed beds. These areas have contributed to the development of angling tourism.

Distinct moisture-loving vegetation is found in undeveloped sections of the Vlăsia Valley. Thus, in addition to the regional plain, Balotești features water and reed areas as well as distinctive vegetation zones in the valley. The landscape therefore ranges from the broad geographical setting to the damp, undeveloped sections of the Vlăsia Valley.
