Dimieni – Culture, History and Cycling Route
Culture
Dimieni can be explored through its churches and archaeological sites. The parish church of Dimieni is dedicated to Saint Dimitrie Basarabov. Over a long period, the church was extensively beautified. The church in the village of Dimieni contains a sacred vestment in a place of honour.
The Maronite Church of St. Charbel was consecrated on the occasion of a pastoral visit to Bucharest from 12 to 15 September 2013. It was the first Maronite place of worship in Romania and in Central and Eastern Europe. For your own trip planning, you can distinguish the religious sites by their dedication, architectural development and classification within church history.
History
Northwest of the village lies the Dimieni archaeological site, 1.50 km west of the Tunari–Balotești road, in the far northwestern part of the municipality near the border with the UAT Otopeni and 150 m south of the railway line. South of the village lies the Geto-Dacian settlement of Dimieni, 50 m west of the DJ road from Tunari to Dimieni, on a ridge cut through by a drainage ditch for CA2.
At the eastern edge of the village, towards the municipality of Dascălu, lies the Bronze Age settlement of Dimieni, 2,000 m east of the Tunari–Balotești road. Also northwest of the village lies the La Tène settlement of Dimieni, 1.50 km west of the Tunari–Balotești road, 1.2 km south of the railway line and in the far northwestern part of the municipality of Tunari.
For private trip planning, you can consider the four sites separately and connect their historical designations with their respective location references.

Activities
The SSP cycling route runs from Bucharest via Dimieni, Căciulata, Moara Vlăsiei, Lipia, Merii Petchii, Moara Vlăsiei, Dascălu and Tunari back to Bucharest. Particular attention is required on sections of public roads with heavy traffic along the SSP cycling route.
