Rudeni – Churches, Fort Chitila and Green Space Projects

Rudeni draws attention to a clear historical reference point: the Biserica Parohiei Rudeni is a historic monument. For your planning, you can consider sacred history, fortification architecture, landscape projects and route information as separate topics.

Culture and History

The church in Rudeni was built from 1850 onward. In 1821, Tudor Vladimirescu prayed in the church in Rudeni. Construction work on the new church was completed in 1872; it was dedicated to ā€œSfinții 40 de Muceniciā€. Rudeni was first documented historically in 1821; at that time, Tudor Vladimirescu’s army stopped in the hamlet of ā€œCataneā€. Thus, the building history, religious memory and the oldest historical record of the place stand alongside one another with different years.

Fort 1 Chitila also broadens the historical context. It has a pentagonal structure with a central redoubt as well as surrounding storage, accommodation and other rooms. It was built between 1888 and 1897 and was the first fort in the fortification ring around Bucharest. The archaeological area ā€œFortul 1 - Chitila de la Bucureştiā€ lies northeast of Strada Rudeni. The nearby church of Chiajna Monastery was begun on January 2, 1775, or built on April 23, 1782.

Nature and Open Space

The landscape includes the waters of the DĆ¢mbovița and Lunca Chiajnei, which border Rudeni to the southwest. The Pădurea urbană Chitila project is located in the Rudeni district; access is planned via Strada Fortului and Strada Panduri. For orientation, you can read the references to the waterways and the planned project access points as separate details.

The project for Parc Valea Mangului in Chitila includes promenades, a green amphitheater square, a children’s playground, a sports area, a skate park, a roller-skating rink or possible ice-skating rink, as well as a fitness area. It also provides for converting a 61,734 m² degraded and unused area into green spaces and areas for recreation and leisure. The various components can be considered as separate focal points for exercise, play and recreation.

The two landscape projects name different spatial and functional elements: for Pădurea urbană Chitila, the Rudeni district and the planned access points are specified, while Parc Valea Mangului lists individual areas such as promenades, sports and play areas, as well as the planned conversion of an area with an exact stated size. This keeps the project location, access and land use distinguishable from one another.

Routes and Transport

You can compare different topics, time details and route lengths separately when planning. The bicycle path project of the city of Chitila provides for a route approximately 7.7 kilometers long in total. Line 429 runs between Chitila – Pasaj CFR and București – Bd. Preciziei. The railway in Chitila lies on the European TEN-T Rhine–Danube transport corridor.

The transport information therefore presents three different levels side by side: the bicycle path project gives an approximate total length, line 429 describes a specific connection between two endpoints, and the railway is characterized by its classification within the TEN-T Rhine–Danube corridor. The three details thus refer to different modes of transport and types of route.
