Culture and history
The Curtea Domnească is considered the historic center and the heart of the city of Piatra-Neamț. The historic complex consists of the Biserica „Sf. Ioan Domnesc“, the Turnul-clopotniță and the Muzeul Curții Domnești. For a cultural exploration, several perspectives can be considered side by side here: city history, Jewish heritage, literature, natural history, as well as history and archaeology.
The wooden Baal Shem Tov Synagogue bears witness to the large Jewish community that had already existed in Piatra-Neamț since the Middle Ages. In the eastern wall of the Baal Shem Tov Synagogue there is a wooden-carved „Urna Sfântă“, made in 1835 by Şaraga Iţchok ben Moische. The two details connect community history and craftsmanship in a specific chronological context.
The Calistrat HogaÅŸ Memorial Museum is the only memorial museum in Piatra-NeamÈ› dedicated to the writer. The house of the writer Calistrat HogaÅŸ was opened to visitors in 1939 and is classified as a historic monument. At literary sites, you can distinguish between a dedicated memorial museum and a house classified as a historic monument.
The permanent exhibition of the Muzeul de Științe Naturale Piatra-Neamț is divided into sections covering the development of the Earth’s crust, the development of life throughout the geological eras, and the flora and fauna of Neamț County. The collections of the Muzeul de Istorie și Arheologie Piatra-Neamț comprise more than 70,000 historical and archaeological objects. Natural history and archaeology appear here as clearly separate thematic approaches.

Nature
The Telegondola Piatra-Neamț opened in February 2008 and has so far transported more than 1 million tourists to the summit of Muntele Cozla. From the Telegondola Piatra-Neamț, there are views of Bâtca Doamnei Reservoir, Muntele Pietricia and the Ceahlău Massif. For planning purposes, these three landscape features can be considered as separate viewing themes.
On Muntele Cozla, an easy, officially approved hiking trail marked with a blue stripe leads to the „Trei Căldări“ geological reserve; it can be used in every season. The details concerning difficulty, approval, marking and seasonality can be read separately for personal planning.
Activities
Piatra-Neamț has a downhill cycling track associated with one of Romania’s oldest downhill courses, where a national MTB downhill competition has been held for 18 years. Hiking and downhill cycling can be compared as different types of activity.
City history
The present-day Piatra-NeamÈ› railway station was inaugurated on October 2, 1913, and is a historic monument.
