Boldești-Scăeni: Culture, Landscape and Festivals

Boldești-Scăeni is located in the valley of the Teleajen River. The town combines a distinctly named landscape with historic buildings and recurring festivals.

Landscape

At Dealul Seciu, vineyards, forests and hills shape the landscape. Culture and History

In the eastern part of Boldești-Scăeni, at Strada Unirii 58, are the ruins of the “Sf. Arhangheli Mihail şi Gavril” Church, which is registered as a historic monument. The former Bălăceanu boyar estate is also located within the city. Both sites are therefore historical points of reference in the city area, but differ in their names and in the character of the structures that have been preserved.

In Seciu, Casa Rusescu dates from 1826 and is assigned to value group A, category II. The Teodor-Diamant Monument is registered as a historic monument and is located in the Scăeni district at the intersection of Primăverii and Monumentului streets. The “Adormirea Maicii Domnului” Church in Scăeni was built between 1936 and 1938 according to a design by the architect Toma Socolescu.

The Statue of Liberty in Boldești-Scăeni is a copy of the original in New York. The Scăieni estate was selected for Romania’s first phalanstery, which was then called “Societatea agronomică şi manufacturieră” or “Colonia soţilor agronomi”. Years, locations, monument registrations and historical references offer different criteria by which the cultural sites mentioned can be distinguished.
