Văleni-Stânișoara: Mountain Settlement, Monument and Cycling Route
Văleni-Stânișoara is a long, linear mountain settlement in a valley.
History
On the edge of Văleni-Stânișoara, at the foot of a fir forest, stands the Monumentul Ostaşilor Români. The monument was unveiled on August 22, 1964, and commemorates the Romanian soldiers who died in the battles against German troops in August 1944. It is approximately 2.5 meters high.
Next to the Monumentul Ostaşilor Români, a wooden cross stands above a mass grave containing the remains of Romanian and German combatants. The access route from the roadside to the Monumentul Ostaşilor Români was completely rebuilt. Benches were installed at the Monumentul Ostaşilor Români. A spring next to the Monumentul Ostaşilor Români provides passers-by with fresh drinking water. This makes the site a place that combines a memorial with clearly recognizable access arrangements and simple elements for spending time on site.
The wooden church Biserica de Lemn in Văleni-Stânișoara is also part of the village's history. It was used from 1886 onward, while the old bell tower was built in 1915. According to tradition, the church originally belonged to the monks of Slatina Monastery. The church thus adds a longer historical perspective and a traditional connection to Slatina Monastery to the historical account.
The historical references differ in form: the monument refers to the battles of 1944 and its unveiling in 1964, while the wooden church, with its use from 1886, the bell tower dating from 1915 and its traditional origins, represents an independent ecclesiastical-historical thread. Both sites belong to the local culture and can be considered independently of one another.
Activities
The starting point for a cycling tour is also precisely specified: the cycling tour on the Drumul Talienilor begins at the parking lot of Pârtia Pojorâta in Văleni-Stânișoara. The route name and the fixed starting point provide a specific spatial framework for planning.
Cycling and winter sports represent different thematic aspects of the place. The cycling tour is located on the Drumul Talienilor and at the parking lot of Pârtia Pojorâta; the winter sports facilities include a ski slope and a ski lift in the village of Văleni, at the exit toward Pasul Stânișoara. The two activity themes can therefore be classified separately without combining them into a single offering.
In the southern part of Mălini commune, in the village of Văleni at the exit toward Pasul Stânișoara, there are a ski slope and a ski lift.
During a stay in the mountain settlement of Văleni-Stânișoara, hotel offers can be compared based on travel dates, room category and cancellation policies.
