Malá Lehota between nature, culture and bagpipe tradition

The Vojšín Educational Trail connects the Starohutský vodopád National Monument in the cadastral area of Nová Baňa with the Andezitové kamenné more National Nature Monument in the cadastral area of Malá Lehota. The route can be walked in both directions, is moderately demanding, is 10.5 km long and has eight information boards or stopping points.

Nature

The Andezitové kamenné more National Nature Monument was designated in 1975. It covers 1.4 ha and is located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Malá Lehota in the Žarnovica District in the Tribeč Mountains. It was formed by the disintegration of a lava flow into column-like fragments. There is also a lookout point with a privacy screen at Andezitové kamenné more; adjoining it is a bus shelter designed in the same style.

The Jazvinská Cave, also known as Debnárova Cave, is located near the settlement of Debnárov štál in the municipality of Malá Lehota in the Tribeč Mountains and extends horizontally 44 m into a limestone massif. It serves as a wintering site for bats and is therefore closed from the end of October until March.

Culture

Malá Lehota is one of three rural municipalities in the dispersed settlement area of Nová Baňa. The remote settlement sections are called “štále”. The Štál Domčeky is home to the Neoclassical Roman Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, built in 1820. Its old nave has a barrel vault.

A masonry wayside chapel, built around 1955, stands between Štál Adamcovým and Štál Udičkovým. A monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars was erected in the local cemetery in 1946.

Events

The ZETOR 25 CUP is a regularly held event in Malá Lehota featuring races of historic Zetor 25 tractors. Gajdošské fašiangy has a different focus: the festival is considered the oldest bagpipe festival in Slovakia and takes place in Malá Lehota, Veľká Lehota and Jedľové Kostoľany.

The international gathering of bagpipe players and bagpipe music, known as the “Bagpipes Carnival”, takes place in Malá Lehota and begins on the last Friday before Ash Wednesday.

When comparing hotels in Malá Lehota, check the exact location, type of accommodation and occupancy on the respective offer page. The included services, individual price components, and the booking and cancellation terms are equally important. Reviewing these fields makes it easier to compare different offers and shows which costs have already been taken into account. Especially when planning a budget-conscious trip, it may be useful to place the offers side by side before booking and note the conditions relevant to your stay. The specific details are provided by each individual offer. Also make sure that the stated occupancy suits your travel group and that any fees are shown separately from the base price. This allows different offer structures to be compared objectively, without drawing conclusions about a specific property from general information. The deadlines and conditions of any possible cancellation should also be checked in full on the respective page.
