Hotels in Vricko: Kľacký Waterfall, Little Fatra and History

Vrícko combines a landscape in the Little Fatra with bodies of water, protected natural areas, marked routes and historical evidence. The village is located in the Lúčanská section of the Little Fatra, while the Vríca watercourse flows through Vrícko. As a result, specific natural features meet a manageable local history and various opportunities to explore the surrounding area on footpaths or by mountain bike.

Nature

One of the notable natural sites is Kľacký Waterfall, which is protected in Vrícko as a national natural monument. The waterfall is 30 metres high. The marked route from Vrícko to Kľacký Waterfall follows the green hiking trail and takes about two hours. Another protected area is Kľak. It covers the cadastral territories of Vrícko and Fačkov and preserves valuable rock and forest plant communities.

Culture

The church “Kostol sv. Bartolomeja” stands in the village centre. It was enlarged in 1787–1788 from an earlier Renaissance church and has a side altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary dating from 1715. The church grounds also contain a 19th-century bell tower with three bells. Another visible historical trace is the Park of the 20th Anniversary of the Liberation. It was laid out in 1965 on the site of the ruins of four houses from the Second World War period. Vrícko is also home to three-room log houses from the 19th century.

History

In the nearby Nitra Valley, a monument was erected in 1962 to three victims who were executed in 1944. Below Reváň, another monument commemorates 17 unknown heroes who fell in December 1944. The cemetery monument to these 17 unknown heroes, who fell in December 1944 and are buried in the local cemetery, is registered as a monument property in the “mass grave” category.
