Belá: Nature and Hiking Experiences in the Malá Fatra

Belá is part of the Malá Fatra, a mountain range in the Western Carpathians. Belské skaly are located above Belá in the Malá Fatra. For trip planning, this makes it possible to combine a place in a mountainous region with a specific rock destination.

Landscape and Protected Nature

Part of the municipality of Belá lies in Malá Fatra National Park. The Veľká Bránica Nature Reserve is also located within the municipality of Belá. For those interested in nature, Malá Fatra National Park and the Veľká Bránica Nature Reserve are therefore two separate points of reference alongside Belské skaly.

Rock Formation and Views at Belské skaly

Belské skaly consist of limestone and dolomite. They are a destination for climbers and hikers. A marked trail at Belské skaly leads to three secured viewpoints offering views of the surrounding area. When planning a hike, these three points can be included as fixed waypoints.

Access to the Route

The Belské skaly area is accessible from Belá. In addition, the Belá, Bránica bus stop at the Bránica, rázcestie signpost provides access to the route to Belské skaly. The route can therefore be accessed from Belá or via the stop at the signpost. Those using this access point should follow the designation Bránica, rázcestie and the subsequent route to Belské skaly.

Church, Cemetery and Chapel

A church was built on the outskirts of Belá in 1683. There is a cemetery around the church in Belá. The Parish of Belá includes the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Kubíková, dating from 1974. The church and the chapel are located in different places: the church is in Belá, while the chapel is in Kubíková. The years 1683 and 1974 mark two different dates of origin. Those interested in culture can include a historic religious building in Belá and a chapel belonging to the parish in Kubíková in their selection of places to visit.

Campsite on the Varínka River

A campsite extends along the Varínka River between Belá and Terchová. The campsite offers overnight accommodation in a tent, in your own caravan, in rented cabins or in a bungalow. With your own equipment, there are therefore two different options: a tent and your own caravan. Rented cabins and a bungalow offer another type of overnight accommodation. A cycling route runs directly through the campsite. Those travelling by bicycle can therefore combine the route with one of the overnight accommodation options available there.
